basic training bootcamp

Basic Training Bootcamp consists of a 2 week or 4 week
boarding and training program accompanied by 3 in-home
training sessions.

During their stay we will teach your dog all of the basics
needed for success.  They will learn 5 basic commands
(SIT, DOWN, STAY, COME and HEEL) as well as 3
corrective commands (OUT, OFF and LEAVE IT).  This
program teaches all commands on leash in both verbal
and hand commands.

Your dog will live in our home with our family where they
will learn general house manners such as no jumping,
nipping, or biting.  They will learn to respect boundaries
such as furniture, personal space, and thresholds.

We will work on strengthening crate and house training
as well as socialization with both children and other dogs.

Upon completing the boarding portion of this program we
will deliver your dog back home to you for your first
in-home training session*.  At that time we will review
everything your dog has learned and answer any
questions that you may have.  We will address basic dog
psychology, proper reinforcement (both positive and
negative), and show you how to maintain and increase
your dog's obedience level.  We will schedule our next
in-home session to be conducted within 7-10 days of
your dog's return home.  This session is designed to help
with any transitional issues that may arise.  The final
in-home session is available for your use anytime you
choose.  This session is designed to be client led which
allows us to address any remaining issues, work with the
children in the home or to teach fun tricks.

These programs also include our comprehensive Training
Manual, a K-9 Bootcamp "Dog Pack",  a veterinary
checkup and  a professional grooming session (bath,
brush, and nail trim) prior to going home.
* In-home sessions are available in
the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex.
We have other options available to
clients outside of the DFW
Metroplex.
K-9 Bootcamp
Where we make "Bad" dogs "Good"
and "Good" dogs "Better".
Why 2 or 4 weeks?

A longer stay is required for dogs with
behavioral issues.  Issues such as Fear,
Anxiety, Aggression, Dominance, or dogs
older than 1 year having trouble with house
breaking may take a little more work, time,
and patience. We require a longer stay in
order to  not rush training and ensure
transference.
What do I bring?

To provide a safe training environment for all
trainees we ask that you bring your dog's own
kennel.  This gives him/her a home away from
home and cuts down on the stress of being in
a "boarding" environment.  We also ask that
you provide your dog's food in order to
minimize upset stomachs.  We will provide
bowls, toys, leashes, treats and blankets
during training.
Can I visit my dog?

There is no set answer to this question.  Each
trainee comes with their own set of issues
that we must work through.  For some dogs a
visit can be encouraging but for others it can
be a setback in their training.  We prefer no
visits for the first 7 days of any program to
allow us to build rapport and begin the basics.
After the first 7 days visits will be
determined on a case by case basis.
What is a "Dog Pack"?

A Dog Pack contains one of each of the toys
that we recommend, a sturdy leather collar, a
sturdy leather leash, a copy of your dog's
schedule, a copy of the veterinary checkup, a
report card from training, a Certificate of
Completion, and a package of the treats that
we used while training .
